You walk past hippo and not sure what to think. We had heard heaps of people talk about going for sport on tv. They were quite right. They do seem to show most live sport and have enough TVs to show different things. The pool and darts also seemed quite busy. It’s dark in there but seems friendly enough. Cloverleaf | 03-10-2018
We frequently go to the Hippo whenever there is Rugby showing on TV. Ruud, Ned and Wesley are all very friendly. They are great at working under pressure when the bar gets really busy on International Rugby Days. It's great that there are so many screens because a few matches can be shown at the same time, especially if there are people wanting to watch different things. Snooker, pool and darts are also very popular, although I never end up playing myself. DutchLife | 16-05-2018
Hippo is a great place to pop down and watch your favourite sport. They show most international games and matches and it's quite often busy with other expats. Ruud (the owner) is very friendly and quite involved with the international community. In general, a great place to mix and mingle, meet other expats and watch a bit of sport. You might not want to take your girlfriend there on a first date unless you want to play darts, snooker or pool. Brexpat | 20-12-2017
We regularly visit the Hippo to watch sport on TV. They have several screens around the bar area and they will open (on request) for some sporting events that are showing out of usual business hours. Sally | 20-09-2017
but generally the only place you can guarantee will show all the international rugby matches, as well as league matches if you ask. Staff are friendly and somehow remember who you are even if you aren't a regular 'regular'. The only downside would be the quality of the wine, but saying that if they know you are coming they will buy in! The pool tables and darts boards are also good. AbiS | 16-03-2017
Always a very causal come as you are bar. Plenty of space for friends to meet up to watch the Rubgy/soccer/golf have a few drinks and have a laugh. You can also order your own food into the bar so very handy. Nice staff. Mamajenn | 19-01-2017
Hippo is a great place to watch live rugby and Ruud will generally open anytime of the day or night to televise the matches if he knows people are interested. Very welcoming to expats. Expatwanderer | 14-01-2017
